Teachers vs. Students Skittleball

Today was the very exciting annual Teachers vs. Grade 5 students Skittleball game! After a fun and busy season of inter school games, our grade 5 students did their best against our staff. Alas, this year, the win went to the teachers.  Our grade 5 students can hold their heads high, having represented McMillan admirably throughout the season. They gave our staff team a real run for their money today, but we were simply just too tall for them!

Dogs on The Playground

A reminder to all families that the Abbotsford School District has a strict "No Dogs Allowed" policy. This applies to all areas within the school yard boundaries, including the driveways and sidewalks. Please know that McMillan staff love dogs and would sincerely enjoy meeting yours, but this rule is important to respect because not all folks feel the same way. Potential issues arising from fears, allergies, unpredictable pet behavior and the potential mess make is necessary for the rules to be enforced for all dogs, including puppies and small dogs.

For that reason we go outside in all but the most inclement of weather. Please ensure that your child comes to school with weather appropriate clothing and outerwear. School Spirit at McMillan

This year our staff has made a commitment to building school culture and sense of belonging for all students. One of the strategies we are using is school wide assemblies to create and build school spirit. Through monthly assemblies, teachers are recognizing students for their positive social and learning behaviours. We are learning the importance of these traits and how to demonstrate them, as well as cheering each other on as we see successes. The virtues we are focussing on are: respect, honesty, cooperation, empathy, courage, perseverance, creativity and kindness.
