Rainy Days are Here!

Rainy weather is here again! At McMillan we believe that outside play is very important to all students physical and mental health. It is an important part of a well rounded day of learning. For that reason we go outside in all but the most inclement of weather. Please ensure that your child comes to school with weather appropriate clothing and outerwear. Remember, even on clear days our field can be mucky and wet during the winter months.

School Spirit at McMillan

This year our staff has made a commitment to building school culture and sense of belonging for all students. One of the strategies we are using is school wide assemblies to create and build school spirit. Through monthly assemblies, teachers are recognizing students for their positive social and learning behaviours. We are learning the importance of these traits and how to demonstrate them, as well as cheering each other on as we see successes. The virtues we are focussing on are: respect, honesty, cooperation, empathy, courage, perseverance, creativity and kindness.

Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women

On the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, flags at all Abbotsford schools and district sites are lowered at half-mast.

On this day, over 30 years ago, an act of violence shook our country and led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. As we mourn the ones we lost and remember their lives, we reaffirm our commitment to creating workplaces and schools free from gender-based violence.

Rainy Days are Here!

Rainy Days are here! Please know that most days are outside days at McMillan, regardless of the rain, and only under the most extreme conditions do we stay inside. For this reason please be sure to send your children with appropriate outdoor wear everday. Some children have a high tolerance for the wet conditions, others are upset if they get wet, so feel free to pack extra socks, pants and shirts if your child is inclined to want to change.
