September can be a month of anxiety and stress for families as it presents the back-to-school season for children. On August 27th, the Abbotsford School District, in partnership with the Abbotsford Food Bank, Hope City Church, The Salvation Army Centre of Hope, and Relate Church, will host the 4th annual back-to-school event to support families in need. This event will provide each child with a backpack of school supplies, hygiene products, a hamper of dry goods, a hamper of perishable items and a $25.00 gift card for Superstore.

Welcome to allour incoming K families! This is an exciting time for you and your child. To help ease the transition, Kindergarten has a gradual entry process that allows us to get to know your child, as well has supporting your child in learning new routines and independence. Our Kindergarten gradual entry schedule is attached below.  

Today we said good bye to our grade 5 students and wished them well as they prepare for middle school. Congratulations to all of them!  We also took some time to remember all the fun times we had during this very busy year. We hope you enjoy our highlights video.

A $239 million-dollar balanced operating budget for the 2022-2023 school year was approved by the Abbotsford Board of Education on June 14, 2022, at their last public Board meeting for the current school year.

As summer break approaches, Minister Jennifer Whitside, Ministry of Education and Child Care, expresses her gratitude to everyone in the education system for their extraordinary efforts and accomplishments during the 2021-2022 school year.

In 2018, Robert Bateman Secondary offered a unique Art Activism class, which empowered students to become leaders in their community through art. Every year students take on a different social issue and seek to make a difference and promote awareness through community art fundraising events.

As the 2021-22 school year comes to a close, we are congratulating our retirees from the Abbotsford School District. This year, we will see 55 employees retire from our schools and district sites. They have served as teachers, maintenance staff, custodians, clerical, youth workers and principals. And each and every day, they have made a difference in the lives of our students.

This week marks the first anniversary of the announcement of the discovery of over 215 children’s remains at Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation, where the former Kamloops Residential School was located. Since then, Indigenous investigations across the country have found evidence of more than 1,800 confirmed unmarked graves at former residential school sites, with thousands more anticipated to be discovered in the months and years ahead.
