Rainy Days are Here!

November 22, 2022

Rainy Days are here! Please know that most days are outside days at McMillan, regardless of the rain, and only under the most extreme conditions do we stay inside. For this reason please be sure to send your children with appropriate outdoor wear everday. Some children have a high tolerance for the wet conditions, others are upset if they get wet, so feel free to pack extra socks, pants and shirts if your child is inclined to want to change.

Another side effect of the wet weather is an increased number of parents arriving last minute and wishing to access the front driveway and doors for their child. It remains an expectation all year that all students are dropped off in the upper loop. An umbrella is a great idea, so that your child can still arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the bell, and wait at their door to avoid the congestion of arriving at the last minute.  There are staff members on duty to emsure your child gets safely to their classroom door from 8:15 - 8:30 every morning. The only vehicles that should be using the front driveway are the daycare buses. Kindergarten parents who wish to accompany their child to the classroom door need to find parking on the street or at the Church across Oakhill road. As specified in the past, staff on duty will give reminders of this if you choose to drive up to the front door. Please respond with respect when someone points out that you should not be stopping/parking or driving in a certain area. If you have been given special permission to be there, please kindly share this information.

Please also note, that when exiting the upper drop off loop, it is a right turn only onto Oakhill. If you need to proceed to either Marshall road or McMillan, it is a quick turnaround to follow Orchard to Marshall.

We thank all the parents who so diligently abide by our pick up/drop off protocols. It allows for the smoothest and quickest "in and out" while keeping the area around the school as safe as possible for all students.

Thank you,

Mrs. Jordan
