Welcome Back to School!

As our first week of school is coming to an end, students are happily getting to know their teacher, and making new friends. We are all looking forward to a terrific year. This year, we kicked off with a video from our mascot Silver, who had a wonderful summer doing all the fun things he could think of. You can watch that above. He has reminded students of the Husky Virtues, Respect, Cooperation, Honesty, Empathy, Courage, Creativity, Kindness, and Perseverance. Students are excited to begin collecting Husky Tags at our future Husky Assemblies.

One important part of starting a new school year is welcoming new staff to the building. This year we have several. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Saba Groot, grade 5, Ms. Harman Dulay, grade 4, Mrs. Raelene Torok, grade 2, Mrs. Ravinder Sandhu, LLC, Ms. Jana Dahl, LSS and Caitlyn Thomas, EA, to McMillan.

Last spring we said good-bye to several staff members, and then over the summer I learned of yet another good-bye that was needed. Mrs Kitsul, long time, and very much beloved grade one teacher at McMillan made the difficult decision to retire! Mrs. Kitsul will be dearly missed by us all, and if you are one of her past families, please feel free to drop off a note of congratulations for her, that we will make sure gets passed along.

As your children settle into new routines please know that classroom teachers welcome your input and are more than willing to answer questions and address concerns. Please feel free to call anytime. The office is also open if you need to chat with me.
