An Introduction

August 19, 2021

Hello McMillan Families!

My name is Christine Jordan, and I am looking forward to meeting you all this school year as Acting Principal at McMillan. Some of you may remember me from your child's early years at the school, as I was Vice Principal from September 2016 - June 2018.  I am thrilled to be back!

Just a little background; I have taught, mostly at the primary level, in the Abbotsford School District since 1993, with a brief leave to spend a year teaching in a Kindergarten English Immersion program in Japan. In 2016 I was given the opportunity to work and learn alongside Angela Wiebe and the wonderful staff here at McMillan, as Vice Principal. In September of 2018 I became Principal of Bradner Elementary, where I had 3 wonderful years.  I have two grown children who both thrived in Abbotsford schools, and are now pursuing their post secondary education at UFV. My teaching passions (literacy and numeracy) have always evolved around ensuring students develop a love of learning. I believe very strongly that all students can achieve this, and come to work each day to support teachers in ensuring all students are learning and growing academically, socially and emotionally.

As this year begins, we are still navigating the pandemic, and although we have been optimistic about a "near normal" reopening, I am ready to manage things at McMillan as the days unfold and we respond to any changes that might be necessary. My intention is to keep this school website updated with as much information as possible, so please visit regularly as well as staying in touch with your child's classroom teacher. You are also welcome to call the school at any time if you have questions. I am looking forward to meeting you all, and am staying hopeful that we will be able to enjoy a stronger parent presence in the school this year.

Thank you in advance your your support this year. I know we can make it a fabulous year for everyone,

Mrs. Christine Jordan
